If you want to know where the vacuum came from, you need to go back in time to 1907. It was then when a janitor who suffered from asthma wanted to find a way to get the dust nearby him without coughing. Murray Spangler used some of the items in his shop to make a sweeper that would be the first vacuum.
So, how did Hoover get its name? Well, the patent for Spangler's sweeper machine was bought by a local enterprise owner, "Boss" Hoover, and soon they were producing vacuum cleaners. Every day, they could yield just six cleaners. They put an advertisement in the newspaper allowing population to try out the vacuums in their home for 10 days, and the rest is history.

Now, instead of six vacuums, the Hoover enterprise produces thousands of vacuums a day. They offer upright vacuums, canister models, carpet cleaners, handheld vacs and central vacuum systems. That means that most everybody is going to be able to find one that suits their needs.

Today, Hoover is producing machines that trap dust and dirt in the canister without losing any suction.
